Dr. Sylvia Deganus
Senior Training Consultant - Ghana
Dr. Sylvia Deganus is an accomplished Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and Public Health physician with over 25 years experience in Safe motherhood and in other Reproductive health issues. As a national and international reproductive health researcher and trainer she has assisted in various researches and in the development of numerous national and international Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health policy documents, service delivery guidelines, training tools and materials. She has also facilitated numerous trainings in emergency obstetric care for categories of health personnel from Ghana and other countries.
Her skills and experience have been shared with various international agencies such as the WHO, UNFPA, WAHO, USAID, PRIME II, JHPIEGO Corporation, IPAS, and FHI for whom she has worked for on many occasions as a consultant. She recently retired as the Head of Obstetric and Gynaecology at the Tema General Hospital in Tema, Ghana.
She is a tireless advocate for quality maternal and Neonatal Care.
